Stem Program Application

Overview

The STEM Academy @ Morristown High School currently houses approximately 300 students across grades 9th through 12th.  STEM Academy students participate in many core enrichment activities including field experiences, professional speakers, mentors, and a new STEM Academy summer program here at MHS.  The STEM Academy offers a four year program of studies designed for students who have demonstrated a passion in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Students begin their journey by enrolling in an Integrated STEM course that targets a combination of science literacy, research skills, and engineering design while exposing students to a vast array of STEM careers and skill sets.  Academy students also complete robust academic requirements, community service hours, a full STEM elective pathway, and an integrated STEM capstone project.  The STEM pathways offered within the academy are: Biomedicine, Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Sustainability, Research Science, Computer Science, Mathematics and General STEM.

Professional Speakers, Mentors, and Partnerships

The MHS STEM Academy mentoring program connects students with post-secondary programs and professional career opportunities. Professional mentors and speakers are scheduled on campus throughout the school year to connect with students and provide enrichment opportunities. In addition, students have the opportunity to shadow professional mentors while being exposed to career avenues in STEM fields. These relationships help academy students to understand what real professionals do in their workplace, while offering pathways to potential career opportunities and post-secondary educational institutions.
